Here we have a Taurus 500 S&W Magnum

Upon picking up a weapon of this size today, my first question was why?
A huge pistol with such a short barrel. My thoughts were if you were to have a magnum of this size, you can’t conceal it. So what would you do with it? It will bring down anything that’s coming towards you in one shot. And I mean anything!
The gun dealer explained to me that most people use them in areas where there are frequent bear attacks or as a backup when a large wild animal finds that’s a good idea to attack you. He told me that he knows people that use them on the trail when they hike in case of bear attacks. I found that interesting, since I seldom think of bears in this area. But I’ve seen quite a few. I’m saying all this to say, this is a really really cool gun. :p

Look up youtube videos for them. The one I handled to day happened to be a Taurus, but Smith & Wesson makes some superb models as well.
